Biography
Hailing from the piney woods of east Texas, Jordan Rousseau brings a wealth of experience in theatrical production to the role of Lecturer of Scenic Construction at Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
Jordan holds an MFA in Technical Production from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a BA in Oral Communication/Theatre from Harding University. From 2012-2023, he worked as a Technical Director at Baylor University, where he focused on safety, logistics, and construction. Additionally, he served as the Head of Properties, showcasing his creativity in crafting animal puppets and fine furniture.
Jordan has worked with the National Theatre in London and The Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-upon-Avon on shows such as Common, Mr. Gum and the Dancing Bear, As You Like It, Miss Littlewood, and My Neighbor Totoro. Additional credits range from Special Properties Artisan and Construction Supervisor for Shakespeare Dallas, and designing and creating props for the world premiere of Deer at Stage West in Dallas.
Throughout his career, Jordan has developed expertise in rigging, automation, and earned certifications in rope access from IRATA and SPRAT. He is committed to safety and precision in technical theatre, also striving for increased sustainability and green procedures. Jordan is a licensed pyrotechnician and special effects operator, adding an element of spectacle to both stage productions and live events.
