Bowed Strings Open Day

(Registration will open from 9.30AM)
Our event will be followed by a String Ensemble Concert, starting at 6pm in Milton Court Concert Hall. Complimentary tickets will be available.
Booking is now open for our Harp Open Day, taking place on Thursday 6 March 2025.
Join in our masterclasses, tour the School and explore what life is like for Harpists while studying at the number one higher education institution for Music (2023 Guardian University Guide music league table).

Our event will be followed by the Guildhall Symphony Orchestra concert, starting at 7.30pm in Barbican Hall. Complimentary tickets will be available.
Join us for our Guitar Open Day, taking place on Wednesday 22 January 2025 from 2pm - 5pm.
The event will allow you to discover more about the guitar programme and explore our world-class facilities. Meet our staff and students and learn why we are ranked first in Arts, Drama and Music by the Complete University Guide 2025.
The Guitar Day will also feature an evening concert at Milton Court by some of Guildhall’s award-winning guitar alumni.

Our Vocal/Opera Open Day will take place on 20 February 2025, and activities are expected to include participation in a group workshop, as well as observation of a class/masterclass and an opera dress rehearsal.

Open Day FAQs
Do I have to come for the whole day?
No - the format of the open day is very informal and allows you to plan your day as you wish. The classes and components of the open days are scheduled to show you as much of what we do and offer as possible, so it is highly beneficial to attend the entire day.
Can I attend an open day if I am 16 and have not taken my A-Levels yet?
Yes - the open days are aimed at people who are auditioning or considering auditioning. You can also attend if you are younger than 16.
Will I be able to view the halls of residence?
No, we are unable to offer visits of the halls of residence on music open days, but you can take a look inside Sundial Court in our 360 Tour.
Will I have an opportunity to speak with Guildhall Professors or students?
Yes - there will be students around all day happy to answer your questions, and you will be able to talk to professors taking the classes. However if there is someone in particular you would like to meet with please contact the relevant Principal Study department and we will do our best for you.
Do I need to bring my instrument?
You will be advised by the department hosting the open day if you need to bring your instrument.
What level are the open days aimed at?
The open days are not aimed at undergraduate or postgraduate specifically, they offer an insight to what we offer.
I have a disability – do I need to let you know?
