Postdoctoral Research at Guildhall
Postdoctoral Research Fellows are an increasingly important part of the research environment of the School: they receive mentoring from established staff, supervise doctoral research, contribute to research-orientated teaching at undergraduate level, and form a vital part of large externally-funded projects hosted at Guildhall, such as the AHRC project ‘Music for social impact: practitioners’ contexts, work and beliefs’ (PI Prof. John Sloboda). They also act as liaison with our main institutional partners, as for example on the Barbican-Guildhall Archives Project.
Our Fellows are funded from a number of sources, including the AHRC, the Barbican, and the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, as well as directly by the School. In 2019 the School was particularly successful in the Leverhulme Trust Early Career Fellowship competition, securing two fellowships in Music: half the total UK number in the subject that year. Further success followed in 2021 with the award of a third fellowship from the Trust.
