In a celebration of creativity, finalists of RELEASE 2024, Guildhall Young Artists composition competition, will showcase, through music and film, their diverse new work and receive prizes from industry leading composers including Judith Weir (Master of the King’s music 2014 to 2024) and Pippa Cleary, the only British woman to compose three West End musicals.
In April 2024 all 1,600 Guildhall Young Artists students were invited to submit a new work in four categories: Release the Brief (a noted piece for trumpet and piano), Release the Image (music for film), Release the Song (an original song) and Release the Notes (free composition for any ensemble).
Two adjudication panels had the difficult decision of selecting from 114 entries a short-list of 39 compositions, and then a final 3 in each category.

Milton Court, based across the road from our Silk Street building, provides the School with world-class performance and training spaces, including a state of the art concert hall, a lyric theatre, a studio theatre and several major rehearsal rooms.
