Graduation 2018
Congratulations to the class of 2018, who were presented with their degrees and prizes at Guildhall School’s annual graduation ceremony in the City of London’s Guildhall. A distinguished group of Honorands were also made Fellows and Honorary Fellows of the School over two graduation ceremonies attended by over 1000 graduands, honorands, prize-winners, guests and staff.
The Chairman of the Board of Governors, Vivienne Littlechild MBE, welcomed graduands, honorands and guests to both ceremonies, which also featured addresses by Principal of the Guildhall School Lynne Williams, Alderman Sir Andrew Parmley in the morning and the Right Honourable The Lord Mayor Alderman Charles Bowman in the afternoon.
This year, those made Fellows of the School included: Acting alumna Hayley Atwell, Professor of Piano and Alexander Technique Nelly Ben-Or, Professor of Horn Richard Bissill, Composition alumna Tansy Davies and Lecturer in Lighting Design & Technology Nick Peel.
Co-founders and co-Artistic Directors of Boy Blue Entertainment Kenrick ‘H2O’ Sandy MBE and Michael ‘Mikey J’ Asante, and Artistic Director of Artichoke Helen Marriage MBE were awarded Honorary Fellowships.
Professor Richard Bissill and Nick Peel gave inspiring acceptance speeches on behalf of the Honorands.
This year saw the first graduates from Guildhall's BA Performance & Creative Enterprise and BA Video Design for Live Projection programmes.
The School’s special prizes were also awarded over the course of the two ceremonies, including Gold Medals to Joon Yoon (Music), Mhairi Gayer (Acting), Samantha Agnew (Technical Theatre). Prizes were also awarded to Tom Glenister (Lord Mayor’s Prize), Finlay McEwen (Lady Mayoress’ Prize), Clara Hyder and Henry Pakenham (Sheriff’s Prizes), Toheeb Jimoh (Chairman’s Prize), Yair Schleider (Principal’s Prize), Joshua Judson (Barbican Prize) and Sofía Gómez Alberto (Lutine Prize, Junior Guildhall).
