Biography
Michiko was born in Japan, but has been living in the UK since 1994. She began playing the violin at the age of three with a Suzuki method teacher in Sendai. This early experience has significantly influenced her development as a music teacher, and she is now a fully accredited Suzuki violin teacher.
Michiko studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where she completed both an undergraduate degree and a postgraduate diploma in Violin Performance. On graduation, she also received the Music in the Community Award for her outreach work in schools. Her strong interest in children’s musical education has inspired her to explore and develop multiple teaching styles and methods, allowing her to identify the most effective strategies for helping her students to reach their full potential. A key aspect of her approach involves actively engaging and supporting the parents in the learning process.
Michiko combines her teaching with a freelance performing career. She regularly performs with many orchestras and chamber groups, as well as giving solo recitals across the UK and Japan.
