Biography
Siret Lust is a London-based double bassist born in Tallinn, Estonia. Her musical journey started at 3 years old with piano and singing lessons before earning a place at the Tallinn Music High School aged 7.
Siret moved to London on a scholarship to study at Guildhall School of Music & Drama under the tutelage of Rinat Ibragimov, followed by Luis Cabrera. After completing her BMus with first class and masters degree with distinction she was awarded the Guildhall Artist Fellowship for the following year. While studying, she gained invaluable experience playing in the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra, the European Union Youth Orchestra and as part of the London Symphony Orchestra String Experience scheme.
Siret has been a recipient of numerous awards and scholarships from organisations such as The Countess of Munster Musical Trust, Help Musicians UK Postgraduate Award, Craxton Memorial Trust and Guildhall School Trust.
Since graduating her studies she has been leading a busy freelance career playing regularly with the Philharmonia Orchestra (incl. as associate member), London Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra of the Royal Opera House, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra, various commercial session orchestras and numerous chamber ensembles. Every summer she returns to Estonia to play in the Estonian Festival Orchestra at the Pärnu Music Festival. Siret has also freelanced regularly in Ireland, Belgium and the Netherlands and has participated in various chamber music festivals throughout Europe.
As a soloist she has performed works by Koussevitzky, Bottesini and Vanhal with the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra, Pärnu City Orchestra, and the Haapsalu Festival Orchestra. In 2023 she appeared as a soloist at Gavin Bryars’s 80th birthday concerts in Tallinn and in Pärnu performing his double bass concerto Farewell to St Petersburg.
