About the Drama Course
Our practical Drama Course for ages 11–18, will nurture creativity, develop identity and build technical acting skills. Students will work in age appropriate groups and take part in at least three separate sessions, exploring vocal and physical approaches to storytelling, text and improvisation work.
Suitable for beginners, those who simply want to spend a few hours unlocking their imagination with newfound friends or are thinking about taking their passion for drama a step further. The training is progressive, and its content and focus will adapt to the individual group ensemble as we work through the year.
All students from the Music and Drama Course for ages 11–18, will come together each week and take part in Arts Lab. Creativity and collaboration are central to GYA Kings Cross training approach, and Arts Lab is designed to nurture student’s creativity, artistry and identity. Collaborating with other students and tutors these sessions will focus on innovation, exploring new contemporary styles and approaches to theatre making, music and performance.
Starting at 10am and finishing at 1pm, students on the Drama Course will have two hours, 45 minutes of lesson time (with a 15 minute break).
Drama students will come together with music and production arts students to create innovative performances throughout the year. These will be staged at the centre and other arts venues. Visits from Guildhall School drama students and tutors will give students the opportunity to further develop their skills and ask any questions they might have.
