Biography

Andrew Webster was appointed as a Professor at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in 1994; he studied at the school himself with Antony Pay and Thea King. In 1997 he joined the orchestra of English National Opera leaving in 2004 to pursue an ever increasing freelance career.

From 2002 to 2013 he was Principal Clarinet for Glyndebourne Touring Opera as well as playing guest Principal Clarinet with all major UK symphony orchestras including The Philharmonia Orchestra, The BBC Symphony Orchestra, The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the London Sinfonietta.

In 2013 Andrew was appointed to the post of Head of Wind, Brass and Percussion at Uppingham School. He remains an active player on the freelance scene in London as well as being a member of the Britten Sinfonia and the Principal Clarinet of the London Concert Orchestra.

He is a coach for the National Children’s Orchestra and from 2017 he will be taking over as Music Director and Conductor of the NCO Easterlies Regional Orchestra.
