Biography
Christian Forshaw’s distinctive saxophone playing and evocative compositions are known throughout the world. His recordings have received over 2 million streams, and he has performed and collaborated with Tenebrae, Voces 8, Brian Eno, Moondog, Damon Albarn and Hugh Jackman amongst many others.
To date has recorded six solo albums which were predominantly written and arranged by him. Tracks from these were picked up by Ridley Scott in his 2021 film The Last Duel, BBC TV in their film A Song for Jenny, and have been broadcast countless times on radio stations in the UK and throughout the world.
Christian has recently recorded with award winning choir Tenebrae in an album released on Signum Classics in April 2022.
In 2012 he was approached by Decca to compose, arrange and perform a number of tracks for Voces 8 on their critically acclaimed albums Eventide and Lux.
Christian became a professor at the Guildhall School in 2002. In 2014 he established the Guildhall Saxophone Publishing series which is published by Saxtet Publications. Christian wrote two books for this: Air & Sound and Scales & Rhythm as Duets. Pieces from the series feature on the ABRSM and Trinity examination repertoire lists.
