Biography
Spencer works with producers and promoters across all genres of music including classical, rock & pop, and film. He has been orchestral director for high profile events including concerts for the Queen in the ballroom at Buckingham Palace and the world premiere of Grammy award-winning singer Imogen Heap’s Love the Earth at the Royal Albert Hall.
He recently conducted Jeremy Holland-Smith's score to the Netflix film Scrooge and was entrusted with Roy Budd's score to the 1925 classic silent film Phantom of the Opera, conducting the premiere at London's Coliseum and the Barbican.
Spencer is Creative Director of Guildhall Young Artists. He also conducts the bands, is Associate Conductor of the Symphony Orchestra and heads up the Brass department at Junior Guildhall. He directs the Easter Music Course and Summer Wind, Brass & Percussion short courses.
Spencer is Musical Director and founder of the Docklands Sinfonia, an exciting and versatile symphony orchestra which has become a major cultural force in London’s Docklands.
In 2012 Spencer received the Freedom of the City of London for his services to music.
