Biography

Adam Osmianski is a drummer and percussionist originally from Pittsburgh, PA, USA. Since completing his master’s degree in jazz pedagogy at West Virginia University Adam has travelled the world with various projects. He has performed in concert halls, clubs and festivals in Brazil, China, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, and throughout Europe, as well as at home in the USA.

In London Adam works both as a leader and sideman in a variety of musical settings, with a primary focus on jazz and Brazilian music, and has appeared on a number of commercial recordings.  He is long-time member of Joy Ellis’ group, and leads his own nine-piece Brazilian music ensemble, Samba Azul.

Outside the Guildhall School, Adam is a lecturer for West Virginia University, where he develops and administers online music courses in jazz history, 20th century American popular music, music in world cultures, and music technology.

As a clinician, Adam has presented workshops at the Universidade Federal de Pernambuco in Recife, Brazil, the Tianjin Conservatory of Music in Tianjin, China, the Universiti Malaya, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA, amongst others.

Adam has published works in Modern Drummer Magazine, Music Teacher Magazine and the Jazzinstitut Darmstadt, and also maintains thatdrumblog.blogspot.com, an educational resource focused on rhythm and drumming.
