Biography

Since leaving Guildhall School of Music & Drama in 1990, Nick has pursued a successful and highly varied career as a multi-instrumentalist. His versatility has made him much in demand across multiple genres. 

Nick performs with orchestras including the Philharmonia, London Symphony Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, but is equally at home performing commercial repertoire with the BBC Concert Orchestra, BBC Big Band and London Pops Orchestra. 

Nick has worked extensively in the West End for the past thirty years and has held more than twenty full-time positions as a saxophone/woodwind player on top West End musicals including Aladdin, Shrek, Sister Act, Charlie, Sunset Boulevard and The Producers. Other theatre work has included seasons with the National Theatre, Royal Opera House and Royal Shakespeare Company. 

Contemporary music work includes concerts with the Matrix Ensemble, London Saxophonic and the Koenig Ensemble. Nick is also a founder member of the Graham Fitkin band, with whom he has had the privilege to tour worldwide for the past ten years. 

Life in the studio includes regular work for all the leading session fixers including Isobel Griffiths, Cool Music, LMO and Hilary Skewes. Films credits include Black Panther, Monuments Men, Rise of the Gladiators, Angry Birds, Apollo 11, King of Thieves and Cheney to name but a few! TV work includes music for Shetland, Downton Abbey, Maigret and Roots. In addition to this, Nick is regularly found performing with artists including Lionel Ritchie, Katie Melua, Idina Menzel, Shirley Bassey, Gary Barlow and Diana Ross. 

Nick has taught at Guildhall for over ten years and welcomes the opportunity to open students eyes to the increasingly useful world of multi-instrumentalism.
