Biography

Liz Hosford is one of the country’s leading specialists in Double Bass teaching and has been part of the Junior Guildhall for 20 years. She teaches across the board from early starters to pre-conservatoire level, with a view to having passion for the bass in all genres. Her enthusiasm for good technique from the start is balanced with a fun approach to learning through musicianship and repertoire.

Liz has been involved with revamping the ABRSM bass syllabus twice and uses her experience to adapt her teaching to every individual’s needs. She also plays regularly with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and freelances outside of her teaching commitments.

Outside interests are sport, gardening, travel and food. When not teaching or playing, you can find Liz competing for her country at the World Transplant Games.
