Whilst in London she performed with orchestras such as the Royal Opera House Orchestra, New London Sinfonia and London Firebird Orchestra. She also studied at Conservatoire National Supérieur Musique et Danse, Lyon, for 3 months under Professor Carlo Columbo as part of an Erasmus Exchange.
Emily has always had a strong interest in education outreach and working with young children. She has worked regularly with the Arts Active company in Cardiff performing in ‘Tiddly Prom’ tours for under 5s as part of the BBC Welsh Proms season.
Emily is passionate about music education and opportunities for young children, particularly in rural Somerset, where she grew up and is raising her children.
Since having her own children Emily has set up Tiddlygigs CIC, a charitable company that runs a regular concert series for under 5s in the centre of Taunton, alongside music classes and school visits.
In October 2023 Emily launched Tiddlygigs Storytime, and undertook a tour of 8 towns in Somerset to perform her own version of Goldilocks and the Three Bears, with the support of the Fairfield Charitable Trust and Hinkley Point Community Foundation.
Emily is a huge enthusiast of Kodaly and Dalcroze pedagogy and has recently completed her British Kodaly Academy Primary Level 1 Certificate, achieving a distinction. She is currently working towards Level 2, and her Certificate of Music Education in the Early Years.
At GYA Taunton, Emily teaches bassoon and Music Starts Here, which is a weekly workshop for the youngest children at the centre aged 5 to 7.
