Helen was born in Yorkshire and started playing the cello when she was 7. Like many young musicians she tried to get away with as little practice as possible!  She eventually decided to take the cello seriously when she was about 12. She joined Wakefield Youth Orchestra and fell in love with performing and the camaraderie that is involved with making music. Helen attended The Birmingham School of Music and then performed with The City Of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. She has played at the Proms and the Leeds Piano Competition. She also performs as a soloist and is a member of a string quartet .
