Biography
Katarzyna Borowiak studied piano with Bronisława Kawalla and Jan Ekier at the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw, Poland and James Gibb at the Guildhall School. She furthered her performing skills with Bernard Ringeissen and Richard Goode. She won major scholarships from the Chopin Society, Myra Hess Trust and the British Council, and in 1987 was awarded the Premier Prix at the Guildhall School. She has performed throughout Poland for the Warsaw Philharmonic, Warsaw Music Society and Fryderyk Chopin and Karol Szymanowski societies, and throughout the UK and Ireland, both as a soloist and chamber musician. Between 1987 and 1991 she took part in Sir Yehudi Menuhin’s Live Music Now! concert series. Katarzyna has been professor of piano at Junior Guildhall since 1992, and was a Guildhall (later Trinity Guildhall) examiner between 1999 and 2008. She has performed, lectured and taught on numerous courses and seminars throughout the UK and worldwide.
