Biography

Martin studied at the Guildhall School and then The National Centre for Orchestral Studies based at Goldsmiths University. Since then he has been a freelance tuba player and teacher in London and the UK. He has taught in a number of schools and currently teaches in two private schools as well as Junior Guildhall. He has assessed tuba recitals for the Guildhall School and Royal Academy of Music. He also undertakes educational work with orchestras including the LSO and English National Ballet. Since becoming a freelance player Martin has performed with many of orchestras in the UK and abroad including The Academy of St Martin-in-the-Fields, BBC Concert Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, London Sinfonietta, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Birmingham Contemporary Music Group, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic, London Mozart Players, City of London Sinfonia, English National Opera, The Royal Opera and Ballet, Birmingham Royal Ballet, Ballet Rambert, Glyndebourne Touring Opera, Garsington Opera, Grange Park Opera and Holland Park Opera. He has been a member of the Orchestra of English National Ballet since 1989.
