Steve Parsons

Biography

Drumming for me started after seeing Queen play in Taunton. I was blown away. I loved music already but now I was going to learn to play an instrument. Playing drums came very naturally and I loved it - always the place I feel totally comfortable, alive. Along with my brother and friends we formed a band, became very good, and after 8 years of working very hard we signed a major record contract with CBS America. We toured with Joan Jett, The Bangles, and Nik Kershaw and made an album. This playing, touring and recording experience was invaluable for my playing and especially teaching. The job of playing for the song and making it feel good is what I strive to do. I decided that I wanted to use my knowledge and skills to teach and inspire others. I taught myself to read music and started teaching drums. That was over 30 years ago and I am still teaching and playing. I continue to play regularly, as I love it, and that mirrors my passion, energy and skills I put that into my teaching.
