What's been your highlight during your time at Guildhall?

My key highlight at Guildhall was art directing a virtual production music video for my graduation project, where we recently completed filming at 180 Strand. It was exceptionally rewarding to assemble a team and bring our creative vision to life. Another memorable experience was the lucid dreaming interactive project in my second year, where participants navigated a video story using their brain waves, guided by actors through an alternate world. The project, 'The Onerinought', made a significant impact on our audience and validated all our efforts.

What's been your highlight in the industry?

During a six-month break, I worked at Lukehalls Studios, gaining invaluable experience. Other industry highlights include my role as the Virtual Production Director's Assistant for Treehouse Digital on Apple TV's series 'Criminal Record' and refining 3D motion capture animations for the immersive theatre company, Mesmer. At Guildhall, I also took on video engineering and content creation for the Derry Halloween and LoveLight festivals, significant projection mapping events, and video design for OrchestRam at the Barbican.

What other passions and projects have you enjoyed exploring during your time at Guildhall?

I've passionately delved into software learning, never expecting to be as involved in 3D video content creation as I have become. Starting with Houdini and moving to Unreal Engine, which has become my primary environment creation tool, I've enjoyed discovering how various software programs like Touch Designer and Isadora interconnect for interactive purposes and creating previsualizations with Disguise, Mapping Matter, and Unreal.

What's something you've learned that you feel will help you when you graduate?

I've gained insights into future industry trends post-pandemic and refined my skills in independent project planning and visual creative production schedules. Post-project self-reflection has also proven to be a key skill for ongoing development and growth.

What are you most interested in working in after you graduate?

I aim to work in virtual production, immersive video, and live events, using Unreal Engine to craft worlds and pre-visualizations. My focus is on integrating video and set design, aiming to create transportive storytelling that connects with audiences and fosters self-discovery.
