Beethoven Revisited: Playing with Time
Join us for this masterclass with Guildhall School professor Jacqueline Ross and Guildhall School trios.
Beethoven was famous for his fiery, virtuosic performances, and musicians of his time would have been well-versed in aspects such as rhetoric, cantabile and dialogue. This session will explore 19th-century performance practices such as tempo flexibility and rhythmic freedom to enhance character, expressiveness and spontaneity in Beethoven's chamber music.
Please note this event will take place in Silk Street Lecture Recital Room, not Silk Street Music Hall as previously advertised.
Free, no tickets required

Q&A with Matthew Jones, Head of Chamber Music
"The excitement every year is seeing what happens in the process between the professors and the students during the Milton Court concerts ... It’s wonderful to hear the fruits of that intensive burst of labour".
Before this year's festival begins, we caught up with Matthew Jones, Head of Chamber Music and Professor of Viola at Guildhall School, to find out more about what we can expect from this weekend of inspiring performances.
