Event information

Guildhall Production Studio, part of Guildhall School of Music & Drama, return to the historic Derry City as part of the Halloween Festival for 2024.

For four nights the worlds of past and present collide to bring you a dazzling street celebration of all things spooky in Europe’s largest Halloween Festival.

The new large-scale animations delivered by Guildhall Production Studio have been created in collaboration with Madeline McCully, locally acclaimed ghost-story teller and author of Derry Folk Tales and Haunted Derry.

The Spirits of Derry’s Past

The history of Derry will pour out from the city’s iconic buildings unveiling the myths and mischief of Samhain and introducing you to some of our favourite characters from beyond the veil.

The Diamond: The Spirits of Derry’s Past

Peer into the haunted halls of Austins, where the spirits of Derry's historic figures have taken refuge. These spectral beings wander the vacant building, mourning its former glory and reflecting on their past lives.

During Samhain, the veil between the worlds thins, transforming their ghostly forms back into flesh. Free from their ethereal prison, they roam the city, sharing tales of Derry's rich history and their own long-forgotten lives.

Bishop Street Courthouse: The Mythical Escape

At Bishop Street Courthouse, the cells confine not historic figures but creatures of myth and legend. Bound by ancient magic, these imprisoned beings await the arrival of Samhain when the courthouse's enchanted barriers weaken, allowing them to break free.

As they roam the streets of Derry, these legendary creatures infuse the city with a touch of the otherworldly, blending myth and reality in a captivating display of Halloween enchantment.

Guildhall Production Studio

As part of the production, students from Guildhall School’s Electronic & Produced Music Department will be creating a number of new musical scores to accompany the animations.
