Event information
After releasing several records as leader on Chicago’s Vee-Jay label, Wayne Shorter recorded prolifically for Blue Note in the 1960s, recording and releasing seminal albums including Night Dreamer, Juju, Speak No Evil, Adam’s Apple and Schizophrenia that chart a course from hard bop to avant-garde.
This concert, presented by Guildhall Big Band and featuring tenor saxophone legend Jean Toussaint, charts this intense period of creativity and exploration in Shorter’s oeuvre. The centrepiece of the concert will be a suite from 1966’s All Seeing Eye newly arranged for big band.
