Mansfield Park
by Jonathan Dove
libretto by Alasdair Middleton
based on the novel by Jane Austen
Immerse yourself in the charm and wit of Mansfield Park, Jonathan Dove's enchanting opera based on Jane Austen’s beloved novel, performed in the author's 250th anniversary year.
A spirited score and a masterful libretto breathe life into the vibrant world of Regency England. Social intricacies and romantic entanglements abound as we follow Fanny Price on her journey through love, loyalty, and self-discovery within the grand halls of Mansfield Park.
Originally commissioned by Heritage Opera, Mansfield Park premiered in 2011 to mark the bicentenary of Austen's novel. We are delighted that this production, directed by Martin Lloyd-Evans, features the London premiere of the ensemble version first performed at The Grange Festival in 2017.
