Biography
Theresa Goble, mezzo soprano, was born in Portsmouth, and studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and at the National Opera Studio with scholarships from the Royal Opera House Covent Garden and Scottish Opera, where she was a company member for four years. She has appeared as a soloist with major opera companies in the United Kingdom including English National Opera, Scottish Opera and Opera Holland Park. She has performed extensively in Europe and the U.S.A . Roles include Dalila(Samson et Dalila), Ulrica (Un Ballo in Maschera), Amneris (Aida), Carmen and Kundry (Parsifal).
Theresa has been lucky to work with such inspiring conductors and coaches as Sir Alexander Gibson, Leonard Bernstein, Leonard Hancock and David Syrus to name a few.
As well as her career as a soloist, Theresa Goble is an internationally acclaimed voice teacher in great demand. She was invited to join the teaching staff of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 1990 whilst still at the National Opera Studio. She has also held teaching positions at Bedales School and Royal Holloway University of London. She has represented the United Kingdom conservatoires in international masterclasses, teaches at summer schools, curates the Guildhall School of Music and Drama summer school for young classical singers aged 16-21 and is frequently engaged as an examiner, audition panellist and adjudicator.
She is a Higher Education Academy Fellow.
Regarded for her holistic approach, Theresa’s own insights as performer and teacher draw on traditional Bel Canto technique as well as educational kinesiology, brain gym and inner game principles. Her interest, in how students learn, led her to conduct a research project to assess the effectiveness of the use of educational kinesiology in assisting the learning of developing musicians during conservatoire study.
In 2012 Theresa co-founded award winning vocal coaching organisation Vox Integra, a company providing specialist career development courses for students and professionals in the vocal arts. Courses are run throughout the year in the UK, France, Switzerland and Italy and attract students from as far away as Hong Kong, New Zealand and Southern America.
Theresa has private teaching practices in London and Switzerland. Her students both past and present can be found performing on the stages of opera houses and concert halls throughout the world.
