Specialist Area: Production and Stage Management

What's been your highlight during your time at Guildhall?

The highlight of my time at Guildhall has been working with Centre de Creation in France during March! Not only was it a new and exciting experience, it also allowed me to learn new skills in a very different environment to that of Guildhall. I made some great connections and really advanced my technical knowledge while I was there.

What's been your highlight in the industry?

When I was offered my first job as a Stage Manager. It was nerve-wrecking but exciting to be thrown into the deep end. Watching the show come together on the opening night and receiving a four-star review from The Stage was the amazing!

What other passions and projects have you enjoyed exploring during your time at Guildhall?

I have also been working as a producer with my production company – Lost Tapir Productions. We released a web-series, 7 Minutes in Heaven, and are currently planning on creating a short film that focuses on disability representation later this year. In July, we are producing a play at the Canal Café Theatre – Crash and Land, which has been super exciting to work on!

What's something you've learned that you feel will help you when you graduate?

I have honestly learned so much while I’ve been at Guildhall! Specifically, I would say the technical skills I have learned as well as the importance of positivity in the workspace. I am much better at saying yes and trying something out rather than immediately shutting down ideas that seem intimidating, a skill I have already started using in the industry.

What area are you most interested in working in after you graduate?

I have primarily been working as a production and stage manager and I hope to continue to do so in the future. I would love to work specifically as a deputy stage manager and assistant stage manager in the future so I can explore all the areas of stage management and become well-versed in them.

Additionally, I would also be interested in working as a producer for both theatre and film in the future. It is a role I have just started looking into and working as, but I have found it challenging and exciting to manage and learn – and I am always looking to expand my knowledge within the arts.
