Join us for this play day for instrumentalists aged 9-18, playing any brass or percussion instrument, and of ABRSM Grade 3 standard and above. Led by our lively team of inspiring Guildhall tutors and special guests, you will be able to develop your skills in a fun and friendly environment.
We will be joined by an array of artists with special guest Mark Kavuma alongside guests from Kinetika Bloco and Brass Bands England. As usual, there will be our inspiring teachers from across Guildhall as well as a trade stand from Phil Parkers - the brass specialist shop.
Play alongside your friends and meet new ones, enjoy some amazing music, experience different styles of music and get top tips whilst having fun.
The day will be led by Guildhall tutors with special guests.

Mark Kavuma - Bach Artist
Composer, trumpeter, bandleader, and educator, Mark Kavuma is an influential figure equally at home performing at the cutting edge of the vibrant London nu-jazz scene as he is teaching and mentoring emergent talent in the community and in educational establishments.
Kinetika Bloco
A youth music charity with an exuberant mix of young brass and woodwind players, drummers, steel pan and dancers all in costume creating a “unique new British Carnival sound with a decidedly London edge” (BBC Radio 2).
Sam “Blue” Agard - Kinetika Bloco
Bloco Bateria Leader
Sam started drumming in 1987 and hasn’t stopped since! He has toured as a drummer with Paloma Faith, Pro Green and Plan B whilst also educating young people across London, leading our Bateria since 2004.
Kyle McInnis- Kinetika Bloco
Bloco Brass Leader
Kyle joined us as a participant in 2005 and served on the Charity’s Board. He has a master’s in education and is Head of Performing Arts in a secondary school. Kyle plays Tuba and tours and performs in various bands.
Paul Fisher
Consultant at Brass Bands England & Conn Selmer
A prolific trombonist for a diverse selection of artists, shows and tours. He is a leading conductor in the world of brass and visiting consultant for music conservatoires and music services throughout the UK.
Matt Skelton
Drummer, band leader & Guildhall Professor of Jazz Drums.
He has accompanied leading Jazz luminaries such as Harry ''Sweets'' Edison, Conte Candoli, Bucky Pizzarelli, John Pizzarelli, Warren Vache, Scott Hamilton, John Hendricks, Kurt Elling, Curtis Stigers, Gregory Porter, Georgie Fame and recorded with singers Marion Montgomery, Dame Cleo Laine, Claire Martin and Dame Jessye Norman. Matt is a founder member of the Grammy nominated John Wilson Orchestra.
Venue information
Silk Street Theatre, Music Hall and Lecture Recital Room are located in the main Guildhall School building on Silk Street and for Barbican produced events the venue can also be accessed from the Barbican if you exit via the doors next to Barbican Kitchen on Level G.
