What’s been your highlight in the industry?

Assisting Guildhall Production Studios in their endeavour to explore Volumetric Capture was a valuable experience. It was a brilliant opportunity to work alongside the technical geniuses at Target 3D. Researching the nature of this emerging, innovative technology, revealed my passion and appreciation for research and development, whether it be from a technical or creative standpoint. I learnt how to push boundaries, think outside the box, overcome problems and communicate the technical niches of the system to creatives of various disciplines at BirdGang Ltd. and Angels Costume.

What other passions and projects have you enjoyed exploring during your time at Guildhall?

My greatest passion is to work on immersive installations for gallery exhibits, much like Outernet, 180 Strand and Thin Air: The Beams. My end of second year interactive project was the first, self-led, introduction to this sector. Learning how to think about physical space as a medium to control digital media was a journey. Curating ideas with this physical metric in mind, changed the way I thought about the content I create. It enforced my passion for generating digital art with intention and functionality, far beyond the constraints of media for entertainment. It was very rewarding seeing how the project developed creatively as well as technically. I researched and tested various methods of motion tracking within Touchdesigner and ways to integrate these with my designs.

What are you most interested in working in after you graduate?

I am most interested in working in the research and development sector of digital media, as well as immersive exhibits, whether it be technically or creatively. Discovering the industry standard practice for putting on immersive exhibits and how they operate is something which greatly interests me, hoping to one day curate my own exhibits, participating in this process from a technical standpoint will drive how I integrate software and hardware into my own works.
