Celebrating recent Guildhall Alumni successes

Over the last month, we've seen Guildhall Alumni reach some great heights and milestones in their careers. Here's a round up of some of their highlights.

Tom Nielsen appointed Co-Principal Trumpet of London Philharmonic Orchestra

Having graduated with a BMus (Hons) in 2022, Tom Nielsen has been appointed Co-Principal Trumpet of London Philharmonic Orchestra, at the age of just 22.

During his time at Guildhall, Tom was taught by Paul Beniston, Anne McAneney and Will O'Sullivan. He received 98 on his BMus final recital, gaining the highest degree mark of all music students in his year. Before joining the School, Tom also studied at Junior Guildhall for five years.

Tom's remarkable achievement means our trumpet professors have taught principal players in BBC Symphony Orchestra (Philip Cobb), London Symphony Orchestra (James Fountain) and now, Tom Nielsen at the London Philharmonic Orchestra.

Congratulations to both Tom and his professors.

Marie Schreer appointed second violin section leader of the Hallé Orchestra

Congratulations to Marie who was appointed Hallé’s Second Violin Section Leader back in March.

Marie graduated from Guildhall in 2019, studying with Professor David Dolan and Krzysztof Smietana, graduating with a Concert Recital Diploma, awarded for an outstanding final recital.
