Graduation Day 2022: Guildhall School names new Fellows and Honorary Fellows

Congratulations to the Class of 2022, who were presented with their degrees and prizes at Guildhall School’s annual Graduation ceremony in the City of London’s Guildhall on Friday 4 November. The School also awarded Fellowships to a number of honorands, over two graduation ceremonies attended by graduands, honorands, prize-winners, guests and staff.

This year, those made Fellows of the School were:

Fellows

  • Monica Dolan (Acting 1992)
  • Katharine Lewis (Secretary & Dean of Students at Guildhall School between 2018 and 2022)
  • Zara McFarlane (Jazz Vocal 2009)
  • Dr Eliot Shrimpton (Head of Acting Practice at Guildhall School)
  • Gemma Tonge (Stage Management & Technical Theatre 2002)
  • John Paul Williams (Guildhall School’s Concert Piano Technician)
  • Lynne Williams (Principal of Guildhall School between 2017 and 2021)
  • Armin Zanner (Interim Director of Music & Head of Vocal Studies at Guildhall School)

Honorary Fellows

  • Michael Hoffman (Michael served on the Guildhall School Board of Governors and on the Guildhall School Trust for nine years between 2010 and 2019)
  • Dr Michael Shipley & Philip Rudge (Dr Michael Shipley & Philip Rudge are civil partners who have supported Guildhall School for 15 years, including providing a named scholarship since 2011)
  • Judith Weir CBE (Composer)

Zara McFarlane and Judith Weir CBE gave inspiring acceptance speeches on behalf of the honorands.

The School’s special prizes were also awarded over the course of the two ceremonies including; Gold Medal (Music) Stephanie Tang, Sheriffs’ Prize Yuriko Matsuda, Gold Medal (Acting) Lois Pearson, Gold Medal (Production Arts) Em Reeve, Lord Mayor’s Prize Daniel Light, Lady Mayoress’s Prize Thomas Nielsen, Sheriffs’ Prize Alaric Green, Principal’s Prize Tyreke Leslie, Chairman’s Prize Oswald Leanse and Lutine Prize Daniel Hibbert.
