Guildhall School presents alumnus and sound designer Simon Baker with Fellowship

Simon Baker awarded FGS

Guildhall School has presented alumnus and award-winning sound designer Simon Baker with a Fellowship, the School’s highest accolade, in recognition of his outstanding achievements.

Since graduating from Guildhall, Simon has worked with the sound departments of both the RSC and the National Theatre, and spent eleven years with leading British sound design and rental company Autograph, before returning to freelancing life in 2010.

Simon’s theatre credits include sound design at The Old Vic, RSC, National Theatre, Almeida, Sheffield Crucible and Shakespeare’s Globe, to name but a few, with productions regularly transferring to the West End and Broadway, and touring the UK, US and Australia. In 2021 Simon was awarded the Tony Award for Best Sound Design for A Christmas Carol, and won the Olivier Award in 2012 for Best Sound Design for Matilda the Musical.

Simon is currently Technical Director and Digital Production for the theatre company Wise Children, led by fellow Guildhall School alumna Emma Rice, and he is an Associate Artist at The Old Vic.
