Biography
Multi-Disciplinary Artist
Humble Demi is a multi-disciplinary artist that focuses mainly on music production. His music revolves around past experiences and sounds he has grown to associate emotional connections with, ranging from composers such as Joe Hishashi to hip hop influences like Nujabes.
My artistry is a direct reflection of how I want to connect to the world and how I want to be perceived, I find music as more than just a source of entertainment, it see it as a universal language that I strive to tap into. Where words lack the depth of expression, I want my music to fill in those gaps.
How would you describe your practice?
One thing PACE has taught me is that you never know what you don’t want to do until you try it, assuming something isn’t your style is simply putting yourself in a box. Experimentation is definitely a benefit I have received from my time at Guildhall and is something I want to include in my artistry going forward.
What’s one thing that your PACE training has taught you?
PACE has prepared me for the industry in numerous ways, ranging from my ability to understand how to market myself as a music producer from enterprise sessions, to finding my own sound and how to express myself in my electronic music sessions.
What’s one project that has shaped your development?
My ambitions going forward outside of Guildhall is to begin to develop my electronic music community. I aspire to create a space where all producers can gather and network, bounce off ideas and have a space where we can all collaborate. This was initially brought to light in my project HUE in 2nd year. I also want to continue to facilitate in school settings around music and also in community settings.
How do you think PACE has prepared you for industry?
The Tutors have inspired me during my time here are Jacob Sam-La Rose, for always being the voice of reason to me in times of need, and helping me understand the intricacies of language and expression. Rick Holland for allowing me to absorb his kind nature and vast understanding of emotions and poetry. And Hannah Dunster, for her unrelenting hard work in developing us as artists, while always keeping a smile that could change the world, and so many more.
All of the teachers on the PACE course deserve to be celebrated for how they have educated us. I feel like this course has been a massive puzzle, and all the teachers were the corner pieces we needed to see the bigger picture in all its glory.
