Guildhall invites young female instrumentalists and vocalists aged 11-18 to an exciting day of practical workshops led by bassist Amy Baldwin, vocalist and songwriter Zara McFarlane, Guildhall tutor and multi-instrumentalist Ines Loubet and saxophonist and composer Josephine Davies exploring improvisation, jazz standards and women in jazz. The day will feature a performance by the fantastic workshop leaders and culminate in an informal sharing performance in Milton Court Studio Theatre.
Girls in Jazz Day participants are invited to watch an open rehearsal by the Guildhall Improvisers’ Workshop ahead of their evening performance directed by saxophonist Trish Clowes.
All abilities, instruments and levels of experience are welcome with groups to suit this. Experience in jazz performance is not essential.
Admission free but registration required.
Venue information
Milton Court, based across the road from our Silk Street building, provides the School with world-class performance and training spaces, including a state of the art concert hall, a lyric theatre, a studio theatre and several major rehearsal rooms.
