Sarah Campbell - CV

Specialist Area: Stage Management

Highlight during my time at Guildhall:

I don't think there has been one specific thing that has stood out to me. I have just enjoyed seeing my existing skills further developed and finding new skills that I didn't know I had. It has been this amazing opportunity to be involved in parts of the process that, being a stage manager, you wouldn't normally get to be involved in. I have found great joy in being part of the devising and creative processes, and being part of conversations that generally I would be shut out of.

What's something you learned that you feel will help you when you graduate?

That there is no one way to work with other people. That collaboration takes constant reassessment and where one particular way of working may work for one project, it may not necessarily work for another. While this can be a frustrating thing at times, by acknowledging it I think part of the frustration is taken away. It's ok that you don't immediately find how you all might gel as a group. Collaboration takes time and work, and you have to be willing to put that into any job you do in the theatre.

What are you most interested in working in after you graduate?

I would love to continue working in stage management after I graduate, maybe eventually transitioning into company management as well. I would love to work in all different kinds of venues, from fringe venues to West End theatres and arenas.
