Brahms Piano Quartet No 1 in G minor, Op 25
Sally Beamish Between Earth and Sea
Dohnányi Sextet in C major, Op 37

This Sunday afternoon concert offers the chance to enjoy a delightful programme of Brahms, Dohnányi and Sally Beamish as part of the Guildhall Chamber Music Festival.

The rich intensity of Brahms' Piano Quartet No 1 will be contrasted beautifully by Sally Beamish’s Between Earth and Sea – a deeply evocative work that mirrors the composer’s connection to the natural world. The concert concludes with Dohnányi’s lush and intricate Sextet in C major, a stunning display of virtuosity and depth.

Guildhall professors Carole Presland (piano), Gary Pomeroy (viola), Matthew Jones (viola) and David Waterman (cello) perform in collaboration with Guildhall instrumentalists.

Matthew Jones chamber music festival

Q&A with Matthew Jones, Head of Chamber Music

"The excitement every year is seeing what happens in the process between the professors and the students during the Milton Court concerts ... It’s wonderful to hear the fruits of that intensive burst of labour".

Before this year's festival begins, we caught up with Matthew Jones, Head of Chamber Music and Professor of Viola at Guildhall School, to find out more about what we can expect from this weekend of inspiring performances.
