Charge x WW records: Point Contact – A Fleeting Point in Terrifying Beauty - A cross-genre collaboration between music and design exploring more-than-human perspectives
Point contact is an international ensemble incorporating analogue, digital and acoustic instruments, drones, field recordings, feedback, drums, synths, and guitars. Staging their new work – A Fleeting Point in Terrifying Beauty – the show explores ways of stimulating connection with the planet through the affective dimensions, stressing the role of imagination in creating a bridge to the world surrounding us.
By combining sound, light and video, this new immersive audio/visual show plunges us into the enormity of existence and awakens empathy for our planet.
The show is the result of an interdisciplinary project involving Jo Wills (Electronic and Produced Music professor, Guildhall School of Music and Drama), David Altweger (video artist and lecturer, Department of Design, Vorarlberg University of Applied Sciences), Margarita Köhl (systemic designer, Department of Design, Vorarlberg University of Applied Sciences) and their students exploring the potential of cross-genre collaboration to open up new ways to experience music.
The opening performance of this event comes from EPM fellow Leonard Maassen - Futuristic musical journeys with highly intricate electronic arrangements and ethereal vocals from one of the most exciting emerging artistic voices in Europe, exploring human perception in the context of 21st-century environmental change.
