Speaker: Marios Aristopoulos (Guildhall School of Music & Drama)

Dr Marios Aristopoulos's upcoming book The Game Music Toolbox (published by Routledge) explores a range of composition techniques behind the music of 20 iconic video games of the past. In this presentation he will discuss three of them: the use of generative music in Ballblazer, the use of minimalism in The Last of Us, and the use of diegetic music in Cyberpunk 2077.

Dr Aristopoulos, Department of Electronic and Produced Music (Guildhall School), is a composer and sound designer working primarily in video games and new media. He has been a Sundance Institute fellow and a Baryshnikov Arts Center resident in New York. His generative score for the game Apotheon was on the top 10 PlayStation soundtracks of 2016 and was performed during the Special Olympics Flame Ceremony in Athens.
