Biography

Katie Ranson CV
What's been your highlight during your time at Guildhall?

I have absolutely loved my time within the workshops. There is such an encouraging and trusting environment within DR that allows you to confidently grow your skills and find your niche. Our tutors have been a consistent and reliable support, developing our technique, using new materials, all whilst using industry standard equipment.

What's been your highlight in the industry?

I have had the opportunity to work on The Globe repertory changeovers. It's been fascinating to see how this professional theatre runs and be part of the daily running of it. It's great to work in a world-renowned theatre, and working on some fantastic shows that are produced there.

What other passions and projects have you enjoyed exploring during your time at Guildhall?

I have appreciated external work offered to me by Guildhall, working with young people, assisting and leading Production Arts workshops. Firstly, with Theatre Peckham and later moving into Guildhall Young Artists KX.
I have found a passion, teaching and inspiring young people to find something they love just as I did. This is something I will carry into my future career, and embed within my lifestyle.

What's something you've learned that you feel will help you when you graduate?

I have learnt that reflection is one of the best things to improve on my skills. Through each experience comes challenges which has helped me become the practitioner I am today, and I will continue to reflect as I move into my professional career and beyond.

What are you most interested in working in after you graduate?

I have developed a love for scenic carpentry over my time in Guildhall, as well as production management. I am yet to develop my skills fully in both areas however I am willing to learn through each environment.
